This slightly-modified recipe is borrowed from a post on the Vegetarians in Paradise blog.  This soup is served cold but is definitely not for dessert!  Makes a great first course.

1 pint fresh strawberries
1 small clove garlic
1 tsp. lemon or lime zest
1 tbsp. Bragg liquid aminos (may substitute soy sauce)
2 1/2 tsp. mirin (a Japanese sweet wine – may substitute sake or dry sherry)
1/4 fresh avocado, diced

Place all ingredients in blender and run on high speed for 90 seconds (“Soups” cycle with a Blendtec).  Place in refrigerator and let chill for at least 2 hours prior to serving.  Garnish with diced avocado.
